Bistro 1855 at Suntec City & The Entertainer

Bistro 1855 is a salad bar by day and wine bistro by night. Opened by the same guys behind Seasonal Salad Bar and Shallots, Bistro 1855 is the lovechild of Onion Restaurant and Bar and 1855 The Bottle Shop. Customers can have their pick of wine out of more than 1,000 labels from both the Old World and New World, and relish their drink with signature dishes like duck confit, lamb shank, handcut fries and crispy pork belly.

The duck confit was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was a little bit of Asian and Western fusion, especially with the dark sauce. The mash was amazing and have this dish with a Cabernet wine. It will pair really well.

The lambshank was slightly tough but the mash that comes along helps to soften it a little. The sauce was slightly heavy handed on the saltish aspect. Strongly recommended to drink lots of water after this dish before moving on to the next dish.

 

The Roasted Pork was crispy. Portioning was good as a tapas like dish. If you like it even more crispy do tell the waiter to ask if its possible. Pair it with either red or white wine, rather versatile. It could be the sauce or the vegetables by the side which made this possible. Good for one, sharing with another if you are a fan for tapas.

The 1855 Chicken wings are quite a juicy bite! with a 24 hour marinate before they are deep fried upon order, its crispy skin on the outside and the juicy on the inside meat goes really well with the in-house garlic soy teriyaki glaze. A must have for the beer drinkers!

The wine cellar

The wine cellar has a really large wine selection. Being brought around to buy the wines from the award winning top sommelier of 2014 in Singapore was indeed a pleasure. Personally having bought wines from there, it is a breeze to choose and also very very affordable. Fret not if you want magnum or larger wine bottles, of if they run out of the wine there, they are able to bring it in within a day or two for you. Delivery is also provided and chargeable.

Do hangout at 1855. Huge interiors, live band, soccer and rugby on their large screens, large platters worth sharing and going thru the wine cellar does make the whole experience really enjoyable.
